Why is "1000 Books Before Kindergarten" Important?

Reading has been associated as an early indicator of academic success.

Public education does not typically start until the age of
5 - 6 years old. Before the ages of 5 - 6, parents and caregivers are the first educators. As a result, the child is more likely to be successful in school. The more words children hear at young ages, the larger their vocabulary will be. This will help prepare them for when they are ready to start learning how to read.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten is a program that reinforces this principle by getting your child involved with, you guessed it, reading 1000 books before they are in kindergarten.

Below is a digital version of the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten booklet that you will receive when you sign your child up for the program (for free)!

Just come into the library to receive your physical copy and start jotting down your journey to 1000 Books Before Kindergarten!
